THE DOCTOR WHO RATINGS GUIDE: BY FANS, FOR FANS
Page four

Once in control of the Guide, Robert became delirious with visions of fame, fortune and glory. As a big fan of the books, he actively sought out reviews of both old and new fiction, causing the number of reviews to soar. The word limits were relaxed and the Guide became known for cutting edge reviews of the latest Doctor Who novels, while still mixing reviews of televised stories and miscellaneous stuff.

Although The Guide was his first ever exposure to HTML, as a mathematician he learned quickly (with much encouragement from Daniel!) and found himself enjoying the job far more than he had any right to expect.

Many of the book pages were overhauled and brought into line with the design of other pages and a lot of extra-curricular pages were added, as Robert's editorship coincided with a greater branching out of Who into other media than ever before.

As Daniel had been supporting the page on angelus's site, Robert moved the page to geocities, in the belief that he'd be getting his own site soon enough. Sadly that didn't pan out, so the Guide moved again to xoom.com

As the Guide started to take on more of a mythic status, Robert decided that the reviews needed some sort of historical context... so he undertook the mammoth task of adding dates to every single review, cleaning up the code and generally tinkering with hundreds and hundreds of pages in an effort to procrastinate from writing his thesis.

Robert still can't believe that he's inherited all this, but the Guide was easily his favourite web page before he took over, so it seemed only natural for him to put his money where his mouth was, first in assuming the mantle of New Adventures' editor and then in taking on the whole site.
