With Deborah Watling as HRH Queen Victoria Producer Bill Baggs Written by Anthony Keetch |
Synopsis: Victorian London is not a great place to be if you're a wounded shape-shifting alien. Your ship is at the bottom of the English Channel, your crew are probably dead, and your nearest source of food is in a Loch six hundred miles away. And the natives are insane. Life isn't looking too promising for a Zygon called Bobby. |
A Review by Stuart Gutteridge 27/9/01
Different in style to the previous "monsters" offerings from BBV, The Barnacled Baby makes for enjoyable listening. Drawing havily upon The Elephant Man as its main source of inspiration, the story sees a wounded Zygon held captive at a freak show make a bid for freedom via both Queen Victoria and Scotland. The acting is of a high standard as is the writing with some touching scenes between Bobby (the Zygon) and Kerry Skinner`s Doris. In short then, another winner from BBV.
