A Review by Stuart Gutteridge 19/9/01
One of BBV`s more recent audio releases, The Rani Reaps The Whirlwind sees Kate O`Mara return to the role of the renegade Time Lord for the first time since Dimensions In Time. It also sees the return of the Tetraps, who are faithfully recreated and also at an advantage, since the Rani is their prisoner. And together with three humans, captured by the Tetraps, she plots her escape, whilst conducting experiments on them under order of her captors. The question as to whether they can trust The Rani is another matter of course.
Pip and Jane Baker turn out a clever script exploring both the scientist and the arrogance in The Rani. Plaudits here to Kate O`Mara as well, whose recreation of the Rani makes it sound as if she has never been away from the role. Add to this the chance for a possible return and you get a winner from BBV.
