MythMakers 4:
Carole Ann Ford

Reviews

A Review by Stuart Gutteridge 6/10/98

"So there was, presumably, a huge explosion on Gallifrey and because they were in the TARDIS it was just the flick of a button for them to be safe."

What is most obvious about this tape is the fact that Carole Ann Ford enjoys acting. Comprising two interviews, the first from 1985 at her home, Carole discusses her early acting career and Doctor Who. It is this which is most interesting.

Her memories are presented of a two year old Carole tap-dancing alongside Dame Vera Lynn in various social clubs and being attacked by hordes of Adam Faith fans whilst rehearsing a love scene with him for a film.

In Doctor Who terms, there are memories from various stories, such as her thoughts on William Hartnell and Richard Hurndall whilst working on The Five Doctors. Mention is also made of Shakedown, but oddly not of Dimensions In Time. It is no secret either about the frustration she felt whilst playing Susan and how it left her typecast.

If you`ve seen Carole Ann Ford at a convention, there is nothing new here; but if like me you haven`t attended one, this MythMakers tape is an entertaining fifty minutes.
