After I returned from Canada, I quickly unpacked and repacked for my trip to Sydney, Australia. I wanted to go Down Under because I have a few friends from the Net there. I stayed with Jason Fraser and his family while I was in Australia, and with Alden Bates and his family while in New Zealand.
Jason and his parents, Gerard and Geraldine, were wonderful hosts. Jason has a younger sister, Rebecka, who was a very nice young lady.
While I stayed with the Frasers, I was able to visit several places in and around Sydney. While on Mt. Alexandra, I got a photo of Jason's dad overlooking the city of Mittagong.
I saw several Sydney sites with Jason as my guide. The Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, and even The Blue Mountains. Katoomba and Leura, where the Blue Mountains are, have absolutely gorgeous scenery.
Coming from a flat state like Ohio, I am in awe of mountains. And I got a lovely photo of Jason and the Three Sisters at the Blue Mountains.
Jason and I got together with some friends, Jon Blum and Kate Orman, and took a tour of The Sydney Aquarium at Darling Harbour. We took a ferry to the harbour and I took plenty of photos.
Another Net friend of mine, Richard Prekodravac, gave me a wonderful walking tour of Sydney. As a small town girl, I found the city fascinating. And the food in Chinatown is superb.
While I was in the Southern Hemisphere I took the time to visit my friend Alden. New Zealand also has mountains. In fact, they have a hard time finding flat surfaces. It was so neat seeing houses built everywhere you could possibly imagine.
The other neat bit about New Zealand is all the white bumps on the sides of mountains that move. I actually never got a photo of them, but I thought they were neat. Alden said they were sheep. Whatever.
I know this isn't much of a trip journal, but I was in a hurry. The trip was grand and I intend to take many other international journeys in my time.
