This is still in addition to what was written to the PMEB lists.
As was to become my tradition over the weekend, I woke up early. Judi and Caz were already up, though, so I got up and got ready. When I made my way to the dining table, toast and cereal was waiting for me. It's nice eating breakfast with people. Heck, it's nice to eat something other than Pop Tarts for breakfast.
We had the parade on TV, but after breakfast I switched on NBC because they had it on an hour delay. I wanted to watch it from the start. Whenever Judi needed me (which wasn't as often as I'd feared) I'd rush into the kitchen and do whatever chore was needed. And I also began to worry that my sister was lost on her way to see me. She and her friend Danielle were also in Chicago this holiday to see Jason, but they agreed to come visit me at my online sister's house. :) I called around 11 to see that they were "just getting their coats on." And they said they were leaving at 10.
After the parade ended, it was time for me to start peeling potatoes. The only item that wasn't going to be cooked by Judi were the mashed potatoes. While I was peeling them, Amy and Danielle arrived. My sisters finally got to meet! Alas, I took no photos (too busy peeling potatoes). Amy and Danielle stayed for about an hour and then headed off for their own Thanksgiving dinner.
It's a Wonderful Life was on TV for awhile before we decided that we should have something Paul-ish on instead. So out came the Doctor Who TV movie! I really enjoyed the first 10 minutes of the telemovie, you know... We decided to pass Caz's jelly babies around and play the "Jelly Baby Game," where you eat a jelly baby every time one of the principle characters arrives. (Or anytime you feel like it, for that matter.) We cleared out the bag of jelly babies.
Probably my favorite part of watching the film was watching Judi, Caz, and Alryssa bowing down before Paul saying, "We're not worthy! We're not worthy!" Be sure to check out the photo on my photo page.
Before the movie was over, Marion arrived. With her arrival and the conclusion of the film, we were ready to start Thanksgiving Dinner. Judi had prepared a veritable feast! The food was wonderful and I think we all ate til near bursting. We just finishing when Elsa and her Persimmon Pudding arrived. We had to talk and clean for awhile before any of us was ready for desert. And I discovered one key thing - I prefer persimmon pudding to pumpkin pie any day.
It was getting closer and closer to Visions time, so we packed up our gear and headed down to the loby. Caz, Marion and Elsa rode in her car with all the luggage. Alryssa, Judi and I were going to take the El, but we decided to go ahead and get a taxi. $30 and 20 minutes later we were at the hotel. We booked into our room, drug all the stuff from Elsa's car up, and got ready for the contributor's party.
*sigh*
Sorry - Just remembering when I first saw Sylv at the contributor's party.
*sigh*
Now, I was at Visions95 and thought Sylv looked pretty good then. *sigh* Damn, this man is FINE. He's lost a bit of weight since the telemovie and his hair is short again (with a very lovely cut and just enough grey to make him gorgeous). He looks about 100 times better this year than in 95 (IMO, of course... ;)
I was one of the eager fangurls hanging around Sylv waiting for autograph and photograph time and chatting with him and with everyone else there. My goal was to see him and Caroline at the contributor's party (Mark had opted out of going). I met that goal, though I missed out on a photo with Caroline. (And I missed out on an autograph - they sent us away too soon. :)
One of the neatest things I was able to do was take a photo of Sylv and his biggest fan, Judi. Check out the photo here. I know it was an absolute thrill for Judi to meet Sylv at last. It's all she'd been talking about since last Visions...
Whilst at the contributor's party, I met Geoffrey Beevers and Louise Jameson. Both of them, along with Caroline and Sylv, were extremely friendly and engaging. It looked to me that several people were enjoying themselves to no end. (And that just wasn't seeing my vacuous grin in the mirrored walls...)
I don't remember what happened after that. Something about Sylv chasing after WhoCruiser to get on one of the fan cruises. (BTW, if you hadn't heard, Elsa's interested in the next cruise this December. I'm sure you all can guess why... She's probably the biggest Claudia Christian fan around.) Rest is much of a blur. I think I went to bed and fought with Judi over the covers of the bed... Didn't sleep much at all. Too much adrenaline going through my system.
