If you read about my quest to purchase Big George as read by Sylvester McCoy, you may be happy to know that it finally arrived! It turns out that the phone call that I got from the University of Michigan Law Library was indeed about this audio tape. Hooray!
There was a message in the box from one of the Law Library workers which read:
It is my sincere hope that you FINALLY receive this audiotape! I can’t explain the misdelivery, but I can do my part to see that it gets to you.
Thanks, Elizabeth! I need to write her a thank you note. 🙂
Now, to get the 6-volume audio tape set to Mrs A Harmon. There’s a part of me that says “send it to her, as Elizabeth from the Law Library did for you.” But there’s the cheap bastard part of me that says “Chivers and their incompetent distributor, WorldNet Shipping, f*cked it up, let *them* pay for it!” I might let you know which side of me eventually wins through. I might not, too… 😉
And, in the completely bizarre question category, as I was walking home from the gas station where I just bought a (very expensive) gallon of skim milk, a young man of my acquaintance asked me if I knew what “binomial nomenclature” was. I did, and defined it for him. And he was satisfied with that and continued on. OK…
That audio tape saga finally ends…I suppose it is worth it though! *envies you* All it took was one listening to “Fearmonger” for me to collapse into fannish drooling…But a WHOLE audio tape collecty thingy… Be nice. Send it to the lady with your own money. Then be cruel and kill chivers (also, could you do me a favour and strangle that evil man who tells you that “this has been a chivers audio book” at the end of all the chivers stories!?!) What an odd question to ask a passing person…
I suppose it is worth it though! It is. Sylv reading children’s books is almost as good as Sylv reading physics books. (He doesn’t read physics books, so this is as good as it gets, I suppose.) Listened to the Forward and the first three chapters so far. Since I’ll be doing lab cleanup etc today, I should be able to finish the Doc6 audio “Arrangements for War” and listen to some more of “Big George.” If you can, get ahold of a copy of Sylv reading the Eddie Dickens Trilogy. (Awful End, Dreadful Acts, and Terrible Times.) They’re brilliant! Send it to the lady with your own money. Yeah, I probably will… could you do me a favour and strangle that evil man who tells you that “this has been a chivers audio book” at the end of all the chivers stories!?! Alas, probably not. However, I have a friend who lives in Bath. I’ll ask him if he’d be willing to do so. 🙂
Yay! Stuff received! And binomal nomenclature…what a conversation builder….wonder why he asked you abou that.
Well, I am a science teacher, so he probably figured I’d know. Why he wanted to know, I’ll never know… 😉
Heh. Yeah. Probably part of his plot to take over the world? LOL
