Jersey Boys are Boss!

As we had, indeed, planned, we wound up going to Ma & I for supper. We all ordered sushi as an appetizer (me getting California roll – yum!). judiang and I both ordered tofu pad thai and elsaf ordered shrimp lad nar. Very yummy. Then we cabbed it to Bank of America Theater to watch Jersey Boys.

I’ve heard music by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons but didn’t always know it was them. But I recognized more than half of the songs in the musical and enjoyed it all. A very fun musical with lots of good music. I did miss some of the dialog in the show (but heard more than Judi, who figures she understood 3% of the dialog). While watching it, I kept wanting to get on Wikipedia to read more about Frankie Valli et al. (Joe Pesci? Really! Wow!) I am SUCH a geek. But I feel a little vindicated cuz Judi admitted the same. 🙂

After the show, we took a cab back to where we’re picked one up before the show. Cuz we had some ice cream to be eating! Good ol’ Marble Slab is open late, so we got ice cream for the walk back to Judi’s apartment. I had chocolate swiss and pistachio. Yum!

Now I’m watching Olympics and we’re all geeking. I have a couple of photos from our bike trip today, which I shall post under the LJ cut.

We paused along Lake Michigan to turn around and head back. We’re on rental bikes.

  1. Wow, it does look like a beautiful day…and I’m glad to see y’all are wearing helmets and protecting those fine noggins. 🙂 Frankie Valli’s “My Eyes Adored You” is one of those songs that remind me of being a little kid…though I don’t know if Jersey Boys covers just his career with the Four Seasons or not, and I’m getting too sleepy to look it up. I keep totally forgetting about the Olympics–what I get for not watching much tv anymore (especially now that my compie is functional again). Mind you, at one time I was rather partial to the somewhat toothsome charms of Dutch swimmer Pieter van den Hoogenband and saw something about him medaling, but…feh. Whatevz. BTW, Lake Michigan really does look like the ocean, wow! I’d always heard that about the Great Lakes but it’s great to have such conclusive confirmation. 🙂

    1. “My Eyes Adored You” was sung during the breakup between Valli and his first wife, Mary. The musical covers his life from the start of his career to his daughter’s death – and then a bit of a coda regarding their induction into the Rock & Roll hall of fame. Regarding the ocean – I was sat next to a very precocious kindergartener on my flight here. When I showed her Lake Michigan, her comment was “It’s the ocean!” I tried to explain it was a lake, but nope, those little things down there are lakes, THAT’s the ocean. Heh.
