Gaming the rest of the summer away….

In case you were curious, I got home from Chicago just fine. Flight & drive back both smooth & easy – the best way to travel. Since I’ve been home, I’ve been trying to milk the little remains of my summer as best as possible. (Short summer due to early school start – all new school building related. It will be our last school year in the 1922 building.)

Our school isn’t the only new construction going up – mom & dad are having a house built in the next town over. It’s been fun watching the progress of that. We’ve been taking lots of photos and videos of it. I missed 2 weeks of the construction since I was in Wooster & Chicago, but now I’m back in the flow of things.

We watched the trusses go up on Tuesday. They had the big crane out & were putting them in place and then nailing them proper. Quite fun. Yesterday they were putting tar paper on the sheathing. Mom and I watched it from the swimming pool. 🙂 (The “gated community” that they’re moving into has a pool. And we were allowed to go swimming. Yay!)

Thanks to judiang (who is, I believe I said before, EVIL) I wound up buying a Wii and WiiFit for myself on Tuesday. It’s been fun and I’ve started a regimen with it. After a couple of days up, I finally went down in weight today. We’ll see if I can stick with it. Just bought two other titles for it today.

And unfortunately, before I bought the Wii, I reupped my World of Warcraft subscription, so I’ve been playing that a lot lately too. But it’s been fun. Despite my playstyle (which is to focus on professions first, leveling second) I’ve gone from level 43 to 47 since I reupped. Heh.

Anyhoo, tomorrow I intend to get a handle on my house and maybe even get back to work on my Master’s Thesis. And of course I have to rewatch all of the Harry Potter movies before Wednesday. (Watched the first flick today. Gee, they were all so small then!)

So anyway, happy gaming to all you gamers! And happy summer to the rest of y’all! (Or winter, as the case may be.)

  1. I love wii fit. Just don’t fully trust it when it tells you your age. It keeps saying i’m 54 one day and 22 the next! And once it told me I was obese! I made a Hellboy mii so its fun to see a chubby Hellboy running around.

  2. Speaking of school construction, when Mom and Dad were bringing me home we blew the car’s fan belt, so while we were waiting at the garage for it to be fixed, I walked across the street to my old elementary school and was completely astonished to find it looks almost exactly the same. There were some guys doing construction there–looked like they may have been digging up the septic system, perhaps–and I chatted with them a little bit, asking when they thought the school had been built (they guessed the 1950’s–it looked old already when I attended in the 1970’s!) and reminiscing about the fact that on my first day there, I accidentally wandered into the boys’ bathroom and was all, “What the hell are those weird sinks? What kinda weirdass place have Mom and Dad forced me to move to, here?!” (I’d never seen urinals before.) I try not to go by how much I weigh nearly so much as how my clothes fit, cos your weight can vary by as much as 5 lbs. per day (oh, the glory of womanhood). I don’t own a scale for that reason, cos you can make yourself absolutely nuts about that kinda stuph…well, I can, anyway. Good on ya doin’ da Wii-ness, though! *clappy hands*

  3. With every new HP movie that comes out, the kiddy cast in the first one just seems odder… It is going to be really weird this time around – I was struck by how old they all looked in the posters in the cinema (especially Malfoy, zomg). Have fun getting Wii fit… Just promise me you won’t get those useless consumer!trap dumbell things (ah, Nintendo, you so love your money-grabbin’ attachments) 🙂

  4. I’ve been dreaming of a Harry Potter Marathon weekend! It would take almost 12 1/2 hours straight through, roughly. Did you see the new movie yet? And, if you did, did you dress up in costume? I did. It was fun! I just couldn’t find my wand. lol I’m saving for a treadmill. I have exercise induced asthma, so working out at home is safer most days. Due to many food insensitivites, I’ve decided to study food to improve my high fat diet. Love cheese! So far, I’ve discovered tumeric in tofu for an egg like flavor. I like it with spinach. Result? I’m eating more vegies and less pasta.

    1. Not much into Cosplay, so I didn’t dress up. But I did go see the movie & loved it. Will probably see it again this weekend as my friend from Chicago is coming and she’s not seen it yet. (Will see it for a lot less $$$ here than in Chicago.) Excellent work on eating more veggies & less pasta. Good luck with that!

      1. Thanks! Have fun seeing the movie a second time with your friend! 😀 I did take my nephew to see the movie yesterday, but it was too loud for him, thus it scared him. So, I won’t be taking him to anymore movies. The special showings of movies for Autistic kids doesn’t work for me because I can’t hear the movie. So…my sister will have to do that. I did that once with her, and I could just barely make out what they were saying with the special headphones for the hearing impaired. LOL
