Day28 – Thanks God this book was made into a movie
Well, I thank Peter Jackson, not God – The Lord of the Rings trilogy. When I first heard it was coming out as a set of live action movies, I resolved to read the books before it was released, and I did just that. I’m quite pleased that I read the books first, and even more pleased with the final cinematic result. It’s an excellent set of movies which I’ve enjoyed rewatching several times. Perhaps someday I’ll even reread the books. 🙂
(One of my tasks before December, as I think I’ve mentioned, is to reread The Hobbit before the first movie is released on mom’s birthday.)

PS – saw my first lightning bugs of the season today – summer is here!
The immediate answer I had to this question was Harry Potter–what’s your take there? It’s the only example I can think of where I enjoyed the books & enjoyed the movies without getting all pissed off when the movies weren’t EXACTLY like the books. (Like hey, if both versions of The Other Boleyn Girl weren’t going to be true to the book, at least they could have somehow combined the casts so I could get to see Philip Glenister & David Morrissey in the same film!) *stamps tiny foot in rage* There are plenty of folks that think Peter Jackson IS God, so no worries there. I’m already far more invested in The Hobbit simply by virtue of its cast… 😉
The Harry Potter movies are in that camp too – great set of films adapted well from a great set of books. My folks and I had a great time watching all of the movies in preparation for the final one. 🙂 And so far, the HBO take on The Song of Ice and Fire (AKA Game of Thrones) has been good, too. Not seen any of season 2, but I’ve heard good things (despite the departures).
