Rest of the Night

We had fun at The Blue Nile. We loved the food – it was great. My favorite was the spicy lentils. The hottest was the spicy beans.

We got back home and watched the rest of The Tick. Then we watched Black Books. I converted judiang, but, alas, elsaf didn’t care much for the characters. Still, 50% success is better than none! 🙂

Now we’re watching season 1 of Coupling. And Elsa’s in the kitchen cleaning. And soon it’ll be bedtime – good, cuz I’m tired and my laptop needs recharging. 🙂

    1. *checks the batteries in the remotes* *snerk* I needed to use the batteries out of one of my remotes for a new electrical appliance that I’d just purchased… the FM transmitter. 😉 (I noticed Moffat got that “It’s got 3 speeds” joke out in Coupling too…)

  1. Coupling is goood… Black books is wonderful! Wow, you have so much taste! Can I have a glass of wine? And a-and a ham sandwitch? With a pickle? *look of utter extasy*

    1. Wow, you have so much taste! That’s a quite a compliment coming from a fellow Sylv fan. 🙂 Can I have a glass of wine? And a-and a ham sandwitch? With a pickle? *look of utter extasy* *giggle* Love that bit.

      1. It’s the dribble of blood coming out of his nose that adds that final spiff… That’s a quite a compliment coming from a fellow Sylv fan. 🙂 We are destined to become the masters of this earth 😛

      1. Black Books is a British sitcom. Bernard Black (Dylan Moran) is a misanthrope who just wants to be left alone with a lot of booze. Unfortunately, he runs a bookshop, Black Books, and customers will keep coming in and ruining his life. His assistant is Manny (Bill Bailey), a wierd-beard hippie with an insanely optimistic outlook on life. Next door’s shop, selling that sort of pointless junk you find in homeware stores, is run by Bernard’s oldest friend Fran (Tamsin Grieg). It’s one of those sitcoms which takes a very long time to make – only six episodes every two years – so it’s not going to make the US airwaves any time soon. Links: Black Books official site quotes Quotes: -explaining how the shop was robbed- Bernard: So, what did you tell [the insurers]? They got in through the back? Manny: Yeah Bernard: Yeah it wouldn’t do to let them know that we went out and you left the front door open, would it? Manny: Yeah well what sort of world is it that you can’t go away and leave the front door open without getting robbed? Bernard: It’s this sort of world, Gandalf! – when Manny attempts to be optimistic – Bernard: (to Manny) Don’t make me laugh… bitterly. Fran will fail. You’ll toil your life away. And I’ll die alone, upside-down on the floor of a pub toilet. Mags

It’s possible that PBS will pick it up. It’s picked up short run series like Fawlty Towers and Coupling. Heck, even Comedy Central aired The League of Gentlemen! And I ended up converting Judi to the Black Side. Elsa, meanwhile, remains unconverted. She just didn’t find the characters all that likeable.
