Oktoberfest!

The bad news? Dean’s having trouble with the old Fileserver so the new Fileserver wasn’t ready today. Hopefully he’ll have things sorted by tomorrow.

The good news? Ghost Light arrived today! Woohoo! I watched it with 5.1 surround sound earlier today. And tonight I’m gonna watch it again with commentary.

The bad news? Can’t do any screen captures since the damn thing won’t play with PowerDVD on my PC. Ah well!

The good news? I went off to Oktoberfest in Minster this evening.

First I went to the cottage where the folks were and had an amaretto sour while I finished the book in my purse. (I hadn’t realized how close to the end I was.) Then we went into Minster for their Oktoberfest. I bought a neat sweatshirt for the Christmas season (penguins and snow), an Oktoberfest glass mug (to go with the others I’ve bought throughout the years), and some cinnamon roasted almonds and pecans. For supper I had a brat with kraut, onions, and spicy mustard. Then I got some french fries and shared with the ‘rents. Caffeine Free Pepsi as beverage.

I noticed something interesting – they had a magnificent way to tell when people got too drunk on beer. There was a stall selling Chicken Hats. And as people got drunker and drunker, the chicken hats looked more and more appealing. Eventually, they were so drunk they’d actually spend money on one and wear it. Ta da! Instant drunk indicator! 🙂 (No one in my group drank, so none of us came away with a chicken hat.)

So now I’m off to watch Ghost Light with commentary. Mmmmmm, Sylv! Maybe I’ll watch it again tomorrow. It’s only 3 episodes, after all. 🙂

  1. Just a couple of quickies on our weekend (Judi and me):

In the second pic: we were having pancakes for breakfast, and Ollie was having no luck begging from the floor. So he got on the chair behind Judi and started putting his head on her shoulder — trying to use his mega-cuteness power to force her to give him pancakes.

  2. I’d buy a chicken hat right off. I like chickens and silly hats, so it’s a natural process. You use power DVD too? Isn’t it wonderful! I do wish computer programs were physically huggable. I never feel I show them enough gratitude. Ghost light with commentary…Sounds blissful. I should look into buying it someday. *pokes moneybox doubtedly* I watched the Star Trek TOS episode “Naked Time”, which has Spock crying (so sad!) and immediately thought of “We all feel better in the dark”. I do beleive a music video is forthcoming (thanks to you and your musical shareness!) I’m off to dance to PSB and point in glee at my shiny new Sylv pics. *hugs you once again for your wonderfulness*

    1. I do wish computer programs were physically huggable. Heh, I show my appreciation to software programs that I love by giving ’em money or encouraging others to spend their money on ’em. When you’re independently wealthy, you can do these things. Ghost light with commentary… The only thing that would have made it better would have been having Sylv there too. Still, with Sophie, Mark Ayres, Marc Platt, and Andrew Cartmel doing the commentary, it was pretty crowded. They did a good job explaining it as well. (Not that I needed it explained.) As for making music videos – I need to make two. One of the Monkees “Yer Auntie Grizelda” with spoons by Sylv (and video clips of him as Aunt Grizelda from See It Saw It) and one of “The Theatre” by PSB. For some reason, I always picture scenes from Battlefield with that music and I don’t know why!

    1. It is. I mostly go for the food. Best brats & kraut around. It’s also fun to watch the folks going around with half gallon bottles of beer (you know, the same kind of plastic bottle that you buy half gallons of milk with?) It’s mostly crap beer, but no one seems to mind. (Well, to me, all beer is crap, but I mean these are Budweiser beers, not microbrews or Made-In-Germany beers.)
